Title:Day 23 - Tuesday - August 26, 2008
Reference:1 JOHN 3:16-18
Notes:

1 JOHN 3:16-18 - We know love by this, that He-Jesus-laid down His life for us; and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren. But whoever has the world’s goods, and sees his brother in need and closes his heart against him, how does the love God abide in him? Little children, let us not love with word or with tongue, but in deed and truth.”

Charles Sineath, our minister at First United Methodist Church in Marietta for 21 years, defined love as “giving of oneself to meet the needs of the beloved.” We are constantly advised in the Bible to love. Jesus wanted more than knowledge from His  Children. He wanted us to care for one another as He cared for us. He wanted us to be Jesus to our brothers and sisters. He wanted us to be God’s Love in Action as Millard Fuller, founder of Habitat for Humanity says.

This passage is saying DO IN  RUTH. Meet needs in the name of Jesus: feed, clothe, build, visit the sick, listen to the hurting, and care for one another. James 2:8 says if, however, you are fulfilling the Royal Law according to the Scriptures, “You Shall Love Your Neighbor as Yourself”,  you are doing well.
