Title:Day 19 - Friday - August 22, 2008
Reference:1 TIMOTHY 6: 17-18
Notes:

1 TIMOTHY 6: 17-18 (NIV) - “Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment. Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds and to be generous and willing to share.”

At first glance this verse may not seem relevant to everyone. Most people think of rich as somewhere above where they are financially, but by the world’s standards we in the United States are considered rich. John Maxwell says that prosperity is everything above food and covering. I also believe that rich can apply to anything we feel abundant in or put our trust in to provide for us—anything other than God. Things such as education, physical talents, awards, job title, etc….all are things that the Bible says we can be haughty and arrogant about. These are all things that are uncertain.

True security is only found in trusting God. With that in mind this Scripture applies to all of us and it tells us we should only put our hope in God who gives us all things for our enjoyment and to be shared with others, to glorify God. These good works cannot be lost.
