| Notes: | HEBREWS 11:1 (NIV) - “Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.”
I often make comments such as “I hope to have a nice day”, or “I
hope this will be good” implying something of a wish that a situation
or experience will be pleasant. But in the more important matters in
life I have asked myself if “hope” can actually be something concrete,
reliable. I memorized this verse years ago because it is one of God’s
promises
that give me assurance as His child. My faith in Jesus is more than
just wishful believing; it is absolutely real and true. I can live a
life with certainty and confidence that even without visually seeing or
hearing God, I know He is real.
Paul says in Romans that “hope does not disappoint”. We have all been
through circumstances that are extremely disappointing, so can one
always be hopeful? I believe it is possible by praying to know and
praying to accept the will of God the Father, and confidently trusting
that He is sovereign despite the circumstances.
Prayer: Thank you, Father, for the assurance that “my hope is built on nothing less than Jesus’ blood and righteousness”.
