Hi Folks!

One of the most frustrating struggles of being a pastor in any church is the challenge of getting people (including myself) to think with a Biblical mindset rather than with a "Worldly" mindset. The Bible tells us over and over again to approach life with the mind of Christ and the power of God's Word. The question is, where do we find the foundations of this "wisdom" for leading a life that honors God and follows His Word? I'm glad you asked!

In June I'll begin a new sermon series from the Book of Proverbs. Proverbs is part of a body of Biblical writing called "Wisdom Literature." Psalms, Job, the Song of Solomon and Ecclesiastes are also part of this treasure trove of wonderful lessons for life. My series called the "Way of Wisdom" will span June and July and will cover topics like work, heart, Biblical sight, Biblical hearing , taming our tongue and some fatherly advice from God on Father's Day.

I'll appreciate your prayers as I prepare these messages. Proverbs is a vast wealth of good advice that forms the basis for doing life in a Biblical, profitable and holy way. I have observed that when modern psychology arrives at a long-sought truth that they are sure applies all of the time you will be able to go and find that truth in Proverbs. God already knew it and gave it to us in His Word. When sociologists discover a truth about the behavior of groups of people it has already been conveyed to us in the Book of Proverbs.

One thing I believe we will all learn from this series is that God is really smart. All the truth we have accumulated as humans over the course of history is only thimble-full compared to the vastness of God's ocean of knowledge.
