Hi Folks!

I want you to humor me for a minute. First, hold up your right hand and left hand with the back of your hand facing away from you. Then look at your hands. What do you see? Palms!

This Sunday IS palm Sunday. As you looked at your palms I think of a question. What are those palms doing?

I met a woman today who said that she wanted to live her life so that nothing was more important to her than what God wanted. What a statement! I wonder what would happen if all of those palms (mine included) had that as their passion and purpose for their life just doing what God want. What would happen at home? What would happen at Church? What would happen at work? What would happen as I drove down the highway? These are good questions for God's people.

Jesus rode into town that first "Palm Sunday" to shouts of "Hosanna" and "Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord." Truth is, when our "palms" do the things Jesus did, we often end up like He did (being crucified in short order). For the world says it wants the "kingdom to come on earth as it is in heaven." But truly, if that happened it would cause a lot of change that a lot of people wouldn't like. Leaders would have to become servants. Parents would have to live like they want their kids to live. Entire industries (pornography, gambling and lots of television & movies) would be out of luck and without the customers they need to survive. National interests would be compromised because the drugs some countries count on for funds would no longer be a profitable venture. The arms industry would fall flat. Jerry Springer would be looking for a job. People would get so healthy our inadequate doctor/medical supply would suddenly become adequate. Preachers would need to change their entire way of doing things because many of their sermon illustrations would become obsolete. I could go on. Needless to say, it wouldn't be popular to some people who live off the problems of people who call themselves Christians. Because these things would happen if Christians (just God's chosen people) would choose to do God's will with those palms.

Hey, I have an idea! Why don't Christians do this for just one day? Remembering the children's song (which really messed up the dating life of many a Christian) "be careful little hands what you do" let's just try for one day to honor God with the work of our palms. We might have to turn off the TV. We might need to give to the Church rather than buy that lottery ticket. We may find ourselves doing what is healthy, "so Randy, don't buy those Monster energy drinks or that sausage biscuit" ("Man, God, that cramps my _style_!").

Well, it's just a thought. But for a day, just maybe we could do it. After all, Jesus did it for his whole life!

In Christ's Love, Randy
